30 Day Book Challenge – Day 8 – A Book That Makes Me Sad
“And that’s the thing about people who mean everything they say. They think everyone else does too.”
― Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner
“She said, ‘I’m so afraid.’ And I said, ‘why?,’ and she said, ‘Because I’m so profoundly happy, Dr. Rasul. Happiness like this is frightening.’ I asked her why and she said, ‘They only let you be this happy if they’re preparing to take something from you.”
― Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner
I read this book a couple of years back. But even today, when I think of Hassan, I feel a lump in my throat. And I know this. As long as I don’t forget this story, I’ll always feel low when I think of Hassan.

Something tells me that I need to read this 🙂 There is the need to feel that sadness 😀

Khaled Hosseini’s Thousand Splendid Suns is another book which comes in this category. If you want to go through a whirlpool of sorrow, you could choose either of the two. Both echo the life in Afghan countries.

You do have time to read a lot 🙂 That is another choice for me, I see 😀

No. I read during the gap between my exams and results. So maybe 2-4 books a year is all I can manage. I wish I had more time. I really do 🙂

The book is right in front of me…my wife is reading it (I haven’t read yet). She said that the book depicts miseries in life…it doesn’t talk more on happiness.
Ranju
Oh no it doesn’t. But it is a kind of beautiful sorrow.
